Hagerstown, Maryland, November 21. Greg Crowther of Seattle and Devon Crosby-Helms of Sausalito, California were the winners at the 47th annual JFK 50 Mile Endurance Run held here today.

In the closest finish in the venerable history of the event, Crowther edged Michael Arnstein of New York City by 45 seconds for the win. Arnstein led by 3 minutes at the 40-mile mark, but Crowther reeled him in and eventually passed him with about 1.5 miles to go. Crowther's and Arnstein's times were the second and third fastest in race history, behind only Eric Clifton's 1994 course record 5:46:22.

Crosby-Helms broke the women's course record and finished 10th overall. She won comfortably over her US 100K teammate Megan Arbogast of Corvallis, Oregon.

The race was held under ideal racing conditions, with mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the 50s. A total of 1,010 runners finished within the 14-hour time limit.
