Honolulu, Hawaii, January 15. British Columbia runners Jason Loutitt and Tracy Garneau were winners of the 12th annual HURT 100 Mile Endurance Run held in the mountains above Honolulu. Loutitt successfully defended his 2011 championship, Garneau won the women's race in 2010. The event is one of the toughest 100-milers anywhere, with 25,000 feet of climb and an equal amount of descent on very technical trails in central Oahu's mountainous rainforest. Only 46 of the 111 starters were able to complete the course within the 36-hour time limit.
