San Jose, CA, April 30. Leor Pantilat smashed the course record in winning the 28th annual Quicksilver 50 Mile, held in the coastal mountains just south of San Jose, California. Pantilat, running his first 50-miler, led the entire field - including the 50K runners - and came through the 50K mark just a minute over his own 50K record. The course, run mostly on dirt roads, features more than 8000 feet of vertical. Pantilat's frequent training partner, Gary Gellin, finished second, posting the third fastest time in the event's storied history.
