Phil Shaw Breaks Course Record at Cascade Crest

Easton, Washington, August 30. Phil Shaw of Everett, Washington broke the course record in winning the 11th annual Cascade Crest Classic 100-mile Endurance Run, which was held here on August 29-30. Shaw, who also won in 2006, finished 45 minutes ahead of Rod Bien of Bend, Oregon. His time of 19:47:40 was 6 minutes faster than the previous record, which was held by Todd Walker.

Samantha Sigle of Boulder, Colorado was the women’s winner, besting runner-up Ronda Sundermeier by nearly an hour. The race was held under ideal conditions, with mostly sunny skies and mild temperatures. 96 of the 128 starters finished within the 32-hour time limit.
