Ultrarunning.com Unveils New On-Line Race Calendar
We proudly announce our new database-driven race calendar. As we have done in recent months in the magazine, each race is rated for both terrain and surface. These parameters are defined for you in the pull-down menus for each, with 1 being "easiest" and 5 being "most difficult". Of course, these are somewhat subjective rankings, nonetheless we believe that they add a great deal of information regarding unfamiliar events.
At the top of the page you will find a multiple search function. You can enter as many parameters as you want. Search by distance, by state, by terrain, surface, date, or any combination thereof. (Note: if you use multiple search functions, ALL parameters must be satisfied for the search to be successful.)
Or you can search by key word; try, for example, entering the word "hilly" or "flat" in the Description box. You want nice views? Try entering "scenic".
At the left of each race name is a green arrow. If you click on that you will see a pull-down screen with a verbal description of the race. In the right-hand column is a link to the website for each event, simply click on it and you will be taken to that site.
We will try to get as many races on the website as we can and hope that this will help facilitate your race selection.
Huge thanks to our webmaster Kevin Molloy and software engineer Mick Corliss for the development of these cool new features. We hope you enjoy them!
